Quilting catalogs are a great way to find anything and everything you are looking for when it comes to quilting. There are a variety of quilting catalogs available. Usually any company that sells quilting supplies is going to have a catalog for quilting.
Some Things To Find In Quilting Catalogs
There are a number of things to find in quilting catalogs. The first thing is of course the fabric used for the blocks that make up the core of quilting. There is a variety of different types of fabric that you can use to create a quilt. The most common fabric however is cotton.
The next thing that you will most likely find in a catalog is the patterns. Patterns are the designs used to create the quilts in the first place. These patterns consist of a variety of different types of needlecraft. Common patterns found are cross-stitch, needlepoint, and embroidery.
You will also find quilting blocks that are already stamped with the patterns. These are usually parts of quilting kits. Simply complete the patterns that are printed on the fabrics using the instructions and you are good to go.
Batting is also important when it comes to quilting. Batting is the material that goes between the two pieces of fabric and actually forms the medium for quilting to be accomplished. The purpose of the complex stitching throughout a quilt is for the purpose of holding the batting in place for the quilt.
Of course, there are other types of quilts, which do not have excessive batting or any batting at all these are just usually a front and back of the fabric. Thread and needles are also important aspects of quilting that can be found in catalogs. Of course, depending on if you are hand quilting or machine quilting you may find a wide selection of different needles and threads available.
Catalogs can also have software, machines, and frames depending on what the company or store has to offer. Each one is a little different. There are also both online and paper based catalogs each of which may have different information in it depending on the distributor and the company you are looking at.
Catalogs can be great resources for books and sellers in a given area as well. They can provide valuable resources so if you are into quilting and quilting related crafts using catalogs is a good way to find things you are looking for quickly whether online or on paper.
